I always found Barry to be a warm and generous soul. I spent Christmas with him a couple of Christmases ago and while out getting some fresh air Barry happened upon a homeless guy outside the house. Barry came back in the house and got the guy some hot dinner and stood outside, chatting with him as he ate. The guy seemed really touched. Even after retiring as a community GP he was generous with his time and still helped local patients who needed it. I know he would always try and help me with any health issues I took to him. Barry loved to learn and always had a new intellectual pursuit every time you saw him.. learning mandarin or the art of tractor maintenance, you could always learn something interesting when chatting with Barry. He was a good man and will be missed. Rest well now Barry x
